so i guess i’ve milked that long entry for all it’s worth… and i suppose ten is all that’s going to come of it… which is fine… i’m not griping or anything… just thought i’d leave it up for a while to let everyone simmer on it… see if anything came of it… anyway… thanks for reading it… if you happened to miss it it’s still down there… so feel free… anyway… moving on as life often does…

this week has flown by somewhat… my tonsils are fine by the way… thanks for all your concern… let’s see… Sunday night we were promised a huge NorEaster that was supposed to dump at least ten inches of snow on us… so when i woke up Monday… well, there wasn’t a flake in the sky or on the ground… it did actually start snowing a little later in the day, but it only amounted to about six inches… seven at best… but it was enough for the office to close early, so after i had my lunch meeting with the pastor of outreach at my church… i headed home in the “blizzard”… six inches is enough to build a real snowman when it packs as well as it did, so little boy got his first snowman that stood taller than him… all the other snowmen this season required the heat of my gloveless hands to make the snow hold together and they stood about a foot tall… so anyway… that was fun… little boy loves shoveling and sledding and falling down backwards into the snow… (hasn’t quite gotten the idea of waving his arms and legs to make an angel yet, but we’re getting there)…

i worked from home Tuesday and stole off to Daddy’s Toy Store (a.k.a. Best Buy)… to get Bambi on DVD (with a free thumper stuffed animal), a present for my nephew and to browse the gadgets… i’ve been looking for a cable and software to connect my cell phone to my computer so i can mess with the pictures and ringtones and stuff, but all they have is a universal one that has 7 different cables to accommodate almost any cell phone and costs eighty bucks… no thanks… anyway… i also checked out the DualDisc version of Switchfoot and came pretty close to buying it since it’s only $13.99 which is the same price as the original version… but then again… paying again for the same album… i’m just not sold on the idea… even with the bonus stuff…

speaking of music… my CMCentral reviews for this week are below…

  • Joel Engle – Made For Worship
  • David Crowder Band – Sunsets and Sushi…
  • Paul Colman – Let It Go
  • Kutless – Strong Tower
  • … which brings me to my next topic of discussion… apparently my reviews have struck a chord with the readership at CMCentral… not in a good way either… well, i suppose it’s give and take… but just yesterday i stumbled across this thread calling my reviews “annoying”, “predictable”, “pointless”, “detestable”, “long-winded”, “short”, “frustrating”, and… well, you get the idea… Ms. Mod actually found the thread before i did and cleaned up some of the comments which will leave me forever curious… anyway, there were of course arguments in support of my reviews which would’ve made for an interesting debate except that the sides were generally unrelated… meaning that they didn’t directly address one another… but it was fun to read through and watch develop… see, i expected this type of response early on… when i first started dabbling with the writing style and the content of the review… instead, all i got was encouragement… and even though each week i sweat each review, unsure if it’s good enough, there really haven’t been any hiccoughs along the road… so this was an interesting wake-up call or at least a reminder that indeed you cannot please everyone…

the most valid point brought up in all of this discussion… (in that thread and elsewhere)… was that of the scoring system… yes… it is indeed flawed… i’ve done my best to make it sensible… but it’s still kind of tough to swallow… the good news is that i have an article/feature/something or other in the works that will describe in greater detail the process i go through in writing the reviews, my philisophy of music and reviewing, what i hope to accomplish with my reviews, and of course… the scoring system… hopefully it will be an interesting read and i see now that i should step up production on that…

right now, it’s just about time to check out for the night… i’m gonna rent a movie on the way home since Joey is a rerun and there’s nothing worth watching on Thursday nights… and my wife refuses to watch the Twilight Zone DVDs with me… anyway… here’s a sneak peak at what you all can expect from me in the near future… another review for Renown Magazine… three more reviews and a feature for Hip Hop for the Soul… two new Morning Walk TRus and a few features for the TRu… and the aforementioned feature for CMCentral (as well as my four reviews for next week)…

here’s a couple questions before i leave… first off… “Is your church more a microcosm of the world around it or of the Kingdom of Heaven?” (that’s one of my next topics for an upcoming entry so that’s just something to be thinking about)… and second, which you can answer now… which topic would you rather read about?… 1. How to be an effective witness… 2. A deconstruction of a church service… or 3. How to live a life “worthy of Christ”…

okay… thanks for reading… thanks for you answers…
