EDIT AGAIN:  VICTORY!… i don’t have to go up tomorrow…

EDIT: The calm before the storm?  hope so… i’ve been spending the whole day trying to convince my coworkers that we shouldn’t try to drive up to NYC tomorrow and it may be working… regardless… more than storms are brewing in my head… entries pending… of course there’s always these danged reviews to work on…

i got tagged by by myglasshouse, she’s pregnant and potentially violent so i’m gonna go ahead and do this… i’m obligated to tag others, so how about pedro, FergieT and KT… anyway, here’s mine…

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate. Egg Nog is just not my thing…

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? well, the littles don’t really get Santa (a.k.a. “Ho Ho Mary”, a.k.a. “big fat snowman”) so, wrapped presents appear beneath the tree, though little boy KNOWS that they presents are either in the spare closet or the basement before Christmas… it’s tough to get anything by his observant eyes…

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? white lights are classy and understated… colored lights are insecure and begging for attention…

4. Do you hang mistletoe? not that it means anything, but it’s over our front door, i think it’s plastic though…

5. When do you put your decorations up? we don’t have a set pattern, but my wife is generally itching to decorate from Black Friday on…

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? well, i guess it would be the summer sausage, cheddar cheese and crackers that we eat every year along with our hor d’ourves platters on Christmas Eve… i don’t think there’s a traditional Christmas dinner… oh, i like to have a big breakfast every Christmas morning though…

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? growing up, we always read the Christmas story on my parents bed on Christmas morning and opened our stocking before the rest of the day began…that was fun… i also remember the Green Christmas when we lived in Wisconsin… i was like 7 or 8 and i got a bike and was actually able to go out and ride it that day as it was clear skies and no snow…

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? i think my parents robbed me of that belief… i have no memories of actually believing in Santa…

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? usually an ornament. every year we all get one ornament…

10. What kind of cookies does Santa get set out for him? we don’t set any out, at least not yet… but i sure do chomp down on the sugar cookies when they are around… growing up i was the master of snickerdoodles… i should make some…

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? love snow… born in Buffalo and it never left my blood…

12. Can you ice skate? i tried once… the skates i borrowed were three sizes too big and the ankles kept giving out… i was also on a pond that was about 5 feet by 5 feet so it wasn’t like i could speed skate or anything…

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I got a saxophone once, a CD player once, nothing really stands out…

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? i like to make people smile and teach the littles why we celebrate despite my parents refusing to adhere to our de-commercialization tactics… (a long story)

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? hmm… again, nothing traditional, other than Christmas cookies… snickerdoodles… yeah…

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? a big breakfast and reading the Christmas story…

17. What tops your tree? An angel, oh, that reminds me… that’s a tradition i love… i hoist the littles up to put the angel on the top of the tree each year… it’s a great photo opp…

18. Which do you prefer Giving or Receiving? giving… whenever i have to make Christmas lists, i always end up thinking how i’d just assume buy the stuff for myself and not bother anyone else with the request…

19. What is your favorite Christmas Carol? honestly, i’m not a big fan of Christmas music, i only listen to it each year because it’s pretty silly to listen to anything else the week of Christmas… if i had to pick, i’d say… Sleigh Ride… also, not necessarily a carol, per se, but i love the Relient K song, “I Celebrate the Day“… and most of Harry Connick’s Christmas stuff…

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? eh, not so much… they look good on a tree, but they’re awkward and sticky to eat…

bells…

TobyMac – This Christmas
Relient K – Deck the Halls, Bruise Your Hand
more various Christmas albums…
