Happy Friday everybody… this has been one crazy week… i feel like i did a day’s worth… wait… i feel like i did a week’s worth of work each day this week… but at the same time, i feel like i haven’t really accomplished anything… so good and bad i guess… lots to talk about anyway, so i’ll try to be brief on each topic, much like the football commentators playing comment tag as they each analize the game in 45 second intervals before passing the mic to the next guy at the desk… although, having said that, i’m sure you all know by now to settle on in and make yourself comfortable, because it’ll probably end up being quite long…

first up, SuperBull XL… holy crap are you serious? that was the worst officiating i’ve seen since the Broncos beat the Patriots a few weeks ago… it’s pretty darn hard to score when you get a bogus penalty called every time you get within 10 yards of the end zone… poor Seahawks… some people should NOT be reffing next year… surely they will, but man… this is the ONLY good sport i have left guys… don’t lose me NFL… to make matters worse, i was enduring this game in the home of a Steelers fan who had turned his tablecloth into a giant terrible towel and was trying to justify all the calls the whole game… then at the end as he sat there with a smug little smile on his face telling me how he couldn’t believe it, i could hold it in no longer… “that game is so old news, get over it”… yeah, everyone else cracked up and his bragging rights were cut short… MOVING ON…

whole new line of shirts and stuff over at the official store for TRu-dAT.music, CafePress.com/trudatmusic… the least you can do is check them out… i’m pretty happy with the new design and how they look on the shirts… i’ve had the store for a while, but this is the first time i’ve taken time to do a “serious” design for anything… previously i had the “Mark Stuart makes the ladies swoon” shirt and the pink “TobyMac would wear this shirt” shirt with the rainbow… and the “Stop looking at me clown and peep the TRu” shirt… all of which were good for laughs, but not so much for buying and wearing i guess… the new ones though… they’re pretty dope if i do say so myself… anyone going to GMA Week will probably see me sporting this look all week… nothing like a little publicity… also, if i neglected to mention it before, yes i am going to GMA week this year, if all goes as planned… i’m not sure who i’ll be representing or in what capacity just yet, but that’s part of the “big things”…

without further adieu, i’ll briefly address the the big things… well i’ll give you a couple hints anyway… “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry, I could not travel both and be one traveler… “… that’s one hint, taken from “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost… the second hint, “Monsters, Inc”… doors flying by and shuffling under and around me… there is one right door… i’d also like to issue a warning… before you issue God a challange or even a request that you believe to be within His will for your life… be ready… yeah… be… ready….

David Crowder*Band is coming here soon to kick off their tour with Third Day… i’ve been trying to get comp tickets since November… still nothing… i have less than a week now… maybe i’ll be there, maybe not… i think i’ve shared in the past, the bad fortune i’ve had trying to see them live in the past… hopefully that changes in the next few days… EDIT:  A COLLISION IS HERE!!!!!!!

Crosswalk.com has started reposting my CMCentral.com reviews in their “Fun” channel… thanks to leslisings i was alerted to this behavior and was able to get to the bottom of it all… apparently they sought out CMCentral and got permission to cross promote (no pun intended) CMC by reposting the reviews and linking back… loads more exposure which is cool… something that will come in handy i’m sure… what really made me chuckle is that about 7 years ago, I applied to Crosswalk.com as a writer and i was turned down flatly… now they’re seeking me out… cool stuff…

Uncool stuff includes the email i got today informing me that i was dumped from the may/june issue of HM Magazine… this makes three in a row and i’m starting to think that there’s something more going on than i’m being told… anyway… one of my goals this year is to get more exposure… print magazines are my target and this is a minor setback… we’ll press on though… also uncool, Hip Hop for the Soul… i think i’ve complained that a few reviews i’ve turned in over there back in August still haven’t seen the light of day… well, i was recently assured that things had turned around and after much prodding, i turned in another review over there… almost a week ago now… nope, it’s not up either… i’m beginning to think it’s time to cut ties…

i am committed to writing a few reviews over at SphereOfHipHop.com each month now too, which is pretty cool… that’s been something of a goal as well, since that’s “the” hip hop site to watch… very popular site and what not… the challenge, my first assignments could certainly polarize my audience depending on how i write them… i know you can’t please everyone, but man, this is a tough one… we’ll see how that goes… also cool… “the RunDown” is doing pretty well… apparently people are interested in the “fringe” media (books, videos, etc)… looks very certain to be a recurring hit…

before i forget, if someone who still watches Smallville (if there are any viewers left) could please explain to me how the heck they can kill off Superman’s dad, when he has been in all the other Superman shows/movies with Clark as a man… i’d appreciate that… also, did anyone watch 7th Heaven last week?… i know, i’m not sure whether i should be more ashamed that i watch the show still or that i have to stoop so low to find a show that doesn’t assault my conscience every minute or so… anyway… it was all about music and one thing that stood out was, obviously, a mention of hip hop… and that 70% of all hip hop albums are purchased by white teens… (something like 70% anyway, i’m sure they didn’t fact check)… anyway, an interesting explanation for this percentage was racism… the idea was that white teens support hip hop because it provides a negative image of minorities and we like to keep the minorities looking bad… i think it’s absurd, but it was interesting…

now for some substance… “The Miracles of Jesus“… and what they mean… jeepers it was over a month ago by now, but i watched a three-part special on the Discovery Channel featuring Brock Gill, the master illusionist who also happens to be a Christian… the premise was that he was going to be exploring and attempting to recreate the miracles recorded in the Bible as illusions to prove whether or not Jesus was legit as God or whether he was a sneaky illusionist like Brock… well it didn’t turn out to be anything like i expected it to be, but i did come away from it with some fascinating (to me) insight into the miracles… as it turns out, many of the miracles that Jesus performed paralleled miracles that had occurred in the Old Testament… four that were mentioned specifically were: the raising from the dead of a widow’s son in the same town where Elijah had raised a widow’s son from the dead… Jesus miraculously feeds multitudes much like Moses was able to keep the Israelites fed in the desert… Jesus walks on water, in the Sea of Galilee which feeds the Jordan river, which Joshua crossed without getting his feet wet… Jesus calms the winds and the sea displaying the power that was previously only held by God…

that in and of itself got me interested… then when i started thinking about it even more, i asked the question, “what does this mean?”… and it dawned on me… Jesus was making distinct statements with each miracle that He did… what were these statements?… first, that He was the next great prophet, in the tradition of Elijah… He had the insight and message from God to share with the world around Him… (in fact, He was the Word in flesh)… second, He was the next great deliverer for God’s chosen people, in the pattern of Moses, delivering them from the slavery of their legalistic thinking and lifestyles… third, He was the next great redeemer, leading God’s chosen people into the promised land, much like Joshua led the Israelites into the land of milk and honey… and finally, He was God, with the power and authority to control all things, nature, life, everything… i realize that i just breezed trough all that, but i think you get the point… it is really powerful to think about how calculated Jesus’s actions were…

anyway… i think i’m about out of time… i didn’t get a chance to get into “my enemies” or “a life worthy” both of which i meant to… but don’t worry, i’ll get to them sooner or later… time now to close this out with some reviews and stuff before i head over to work on next week’s reviews…
