March 2006

if i’m honest, there wasn’t a single performance that i liked last night…

what a horrible night for AI…

Lisa – terrible song choice, no one wants to hear a Kelly Clarkson song butchered on the stage that launched her career… flat the entire song except when she was pitchy in other ways… the vocals truly were far too big for her to handle

Kellie – yeah, boring… country may be right up her alley, but there was nothing to that song that really made it worth listening to…

Ace – say what? that was such a bad performance… talk about a sniveling voice… just nothing there worth going back for…

Mandisa – yes, ok… i can see her doing this song in a church no problem… here, she’s shrill and yelling and oh that run is PAINFUL… way over the top and i think she just did herself in… perhaps she’s looking for martyrdom via American Idol

Taylor – it was really good to see Taylor actually in a controlled performance… actually a good vocal and a decent overall presentation… i take back my previous comment, i did enjoy this performance… that’s it though…

Bucky – bad news… mumbling yes and just an okay performance… this song is his strong suit and he should’ve folded his hand a long time ago…

Paris – sounds like someone was jealous that Mandisa got called “sexy” last week… unfortunately this song didn’t work for her, much like the new hairstyle and the outfit… her vocal sounded like Jackson 5 era Michael Jackson… seriously…

Kat – yeah… if i were Christina i’d be happy too… this performance just proved how much better i am than the up and comers… sorry, but Kat doesn’t hold the notes well and the she’s in and out of key throughout… boring song for her…

Chris – dude, no way in a million years would i touch a Creed song if i were Chris… i don’t care how much you like the song man, you do NOT want people realizing that you have a similar vocal as Scott Stapp… horrible horrible choice unless of course, he wants to pull himself out of the race subtly so his band can get signed…

Elliott – the vocal was alright, the arrangement was a nightmare and why the heck is he out of breathe during the whole song… fortunately, compared to everyone else last night, he doesn’t seem so bad…

Bottom Three: Mandisa, Kat, and Bucky with Mandisa heading home…

peace… love… bdg…

“Are you gonna stay home today, Daddy?”

“No, not today”

“You have to go to work, again?”

“yep”

“but why?”

“So you can eat.”

“It’s okay, I don’t have to eat today. I ate ‘esterday. Now, can you stay home?”

It’s true… man does not live on bread alone… and neither do little boys who love to be with their daddy… ah… well, i did end up at work despite his loving offer… but, he does bring up a good point… time should never be compromised… and when the sound of the garage door opening equals “Daddy! (finally)… i must need to do better… anyway… here’s a few things that have taken up a lot of my time lately…

if you must know, i post primarily at http://www.xanga.com/spiritvsflesh

nothing personal, just have been for a long time and can’t really afford the time it takes to update this one too…

someday all of this may change, but not today, i’m way too busy…

nine o’clock and i’ve been up for four hours already… i guess that’s what i get for staying up later than i should’ve… my wife is off on a ladies retreat through our church and i’m home with the littles… littler boy has been running high fevers in the afternoon and evening and high crankiness/clinginess at all other times… he’s been crying on and off since before five… basically, if i’m not holding him, he’s not happy… so here i sit, typing with one hand, sipping coffee that took an hour and a half to make with one hand, researching iPod accessories, and of course, holding a lead weight in the other arm… poor little guy though… he’s tired and doesn’t feel well at all…

of course little boy doesn’t get why i can’t hold him all the time too… craziness… to cap off the atmosphere, the Go Fish Guys DVD is on as well… it’s not supposed to make me bonkers…. um…. sure…

so iPod accessories… yep, i’m finally breaking down and getting a car kit for my iPod… i have the green light to hit up Best Buy today, and even if i have to strap both boys on my thighs, i’m going…

so anyway, i feel bad about not updating, but to be fair, it;s been really crazy around here… and not just taking on all the extra stuff at CMCentral, either… in one of God’s finest twists of fate yet, every other aspect of my life has picked up steam simultaneously to this new writing venture… at church, our deacon group has begun a re-organization process (long overdue) but this means re-establishing regular meetings, enforcing attendance and participation through accountability, and, gulp, homework… yeah, i’m currently tasked with reading a 160 page book called, The New Testament Deacon… this is to assure us that we’re doing what we’re supposed to be doing… though, honestly, the more i learn about the differences between elders and deacons, te more i think i’m more called to be an elder… well, an elder, but younger… also at church, i’ve been wrangled into the missions board recently and this of course means more meetings… since we have a mission conference coming up in a couple weeks, it means a LOT of meetings, actually… last Sunday i lost the entire afternoon to a meeting… four hours… and ended up getting volunteered to be some kind of a spokesperson for one of the events… pay attention people… i don’t talk in the meetings because i DON’T LIKE to….

work has also kicked it up a notch… like BAM!… .we had two guys leave, one designer and one business manager type of thing… and the slack hasto go somewhere, right?… so, that’s been keeping me quite busy as well…

and here at home, we’re about halfway through the 40 day Maker’s Diet schpiel… and i think the worst part of it, is the bedtime… we are supposed to be in bed by 10:30 every night… which really means, i need to be packed up to go to bed by 10 because of the ritual cleansings and exercise that needs to take place before we go to bed… yeah, so that’s pretty wild… that’s a big dent in my productivity…

and yet, somehow, through this all, there’s a peace… there’s a somewhat fluid stream of content coming together in time and work is getting done and church stuff is coming together and we’re all holding together here at the homefront… except that i only have one usable arm right now… and i’m not sure how i’m gonna use the potty later… that will be a trick…

anyway, i’ll leave you with a bundle of links, to prove tha i’ve been busy elsewhere…
