Some random news bits from around the scene…
First up, Jars of Clay is doing a contest for fans to remix “Dead Man (Carry Me)” from Good Monsters and make it your own… interested?… simply head over to http://stems.nettwerk.com/jocremix/remix.action, download the tracks and have at it… oh… good times…

Amy Grant recently announced a new partnership with EMI CMG which will include re-issuing 17 of her albums in digital format, ringtones, new greatest hits compilation(s) and possible new albums… full story here

American Idol Season 6 Final 6
yeah yeah… i’m back again… missed another week, this time due to GMA Week, but i’m excited about Bon Jovi music week…
Phil (the Pill):oh, he’s starting out in the crowd… i’m a little nervous that his voice won’t be rock enough for this song, but it’s probably one of the best he could’ve chosen… that jacket is the bomb… and he’s killing it… i like it a lot… he’s right on point with it… giving pounds to Randy and working the audience… he’s got it going on this week man…
Jordin (The Firecracker): Livin on a Prayer.. that’s gonna be exciting… oooh woah wah oooh…. alright… this isn’t the best per se… but i can’t decide if it’s simply because i’m used to Jon’s vocal to it… i think maybe she’s just putting a little drama into it…. the ending is kind of strong… but yeah… too many pieces of flair, i dare say…
Lakisha (Soul Train): oh jeepers… slim side? she’s just so dang cocky to me… i think she’s gonna sound absolutely terrible, but at least she’s not singing a former Idol’s song this week… it’s too many words per line for her… she can’t get them out fast enough… and she’s off key a bit… speaking of too much drama… this is over the top… i don’t know if i’ve heard this song in it’s original version… maybe that’s why i wasn’t completely turned off by it… but i’m still not feeling it…
Bl-Bl-Blake: You Give Love a Bad Name… aw yeah… oooh… that’s a neat new look… HA! a jukebox!… yeah… this is definitely a risk… but it i like it so far… that chorus is hot… on point… OH GOSH that breakdown was AWESOME!… i know a lot of people aren’t gonna like that… but i might have just found the first AI download that i’m gonna buy… we got a hot one tonight!…
Chris (Richie) Richardson: what the… he’s doing the same song as Phil?… any advice? learn the dang lyrics… oh that’s… crap, what DID Phil sing?… i don’t know… i don’t like this one at all… he’s so nasally and i don’t think this style suits him at all…
Melinda (The Good Dr) Doolitle: i’m probably most nervous about Melinda this week, because she’s so not rock… but wow, that first note was nice… that’s a really weird vocal from her… i’m not sure if i like… it’s not horrible, but it’s a total warp of her normally killer chops… i kind of get the whole Tina Turner/Proud Mary vibe from it… which is pretty sweet… yeah… actually it’s pretty dang hot actually… i can dig it…
Bottom Line: woah… tough week to call, to be honest… i mean, i have clear thoughts about who should go home… okay… Lakisha and Chris are going home… that’s all i got…

New look on the front page – new review(s)…
So, i took a little bit of time to tweak some things on the front page… added in a nice new row of album covers so that it’s easy to access the latest album reviews… a few more changes are planned to make things easier to navigate and enjoy, all in due time…
now, before you say it, i know – some of those covers are pretty old, but i did also post a new album review and i have more coming in the next few days… for the time being, check out my review of Derek Webb’s latest, The Ringing Bell… It’s been almost 2 1/2 years since i posted an album review here because i’ve been out writing for everyone else… but i don’t htink i lost my touch just yet…
