Well, despite what i learned in a recent interview that i have yet to transcribe and post, Jars of Clay have split ways with Essential Records after 12 years… this, according to a recent report from Billboard

The group that has been the backbone of Essential Records has moved on to start up their own label, Gray Matters, which will fall under the Nettwerk Music Group… Nettwerk, which always makes me doublecheck the spelling, also includes the management company that has been working with Jars of Clay since 2003…

Other noteworthy Nettwerk artists include Matt Wertz and Leah Nash… Since Nettwerk doesn’t have CBA representation that i know of – i could be wrong – it’s possible that Provident will pick up distribution rights for the Christian market on some or all Gray Matters releases, the first of which is a Jars of Clay Christmas album which will be supported by a tour with Third Day…

It’s an interesting move for the band and i think that’s a growing cry of freedom that i hear swelling up from the group’s endearing fans…

peace… love… bdg…
