happy weekend…

Only three picks wrong last week… and i won the matchup in both of my leagues in fantasy… quick picks for tomorrow’s games… Packers, Cowboys, and Colts… no scores… no time…

I know that today is Thanksgiving, but yesterday was my Thanksgiving… i took little boy to the bus stop for his half day of school and spent the morning hanging out on the couch with littler boy watching the Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 1 Disc 1 – Bugs Bunny… relaxed most of the day, turned in an interview, conducted an interview, and really just hung out… people are coming for the official festivities… namely inlaws and that’s not much fun…

anyway, just a quick how do you do and a Happy Thanksgiving to you…and you and you and you…

yeah, how about that… i bombed last week… lots of unexpected outcomes last week including the worst performance ever by Peyton Manning with six interceptions… and what’s up with kickers this year? doesn’t seem like you can depend on them at all this year… even the most “reliable” kickers are choking like crazy this season… oh well… it’s been a busy week… let’s start things off with my fantastic picks for this week… see if i can’t do better than six and eight… lots of games on this weekend including the game of the week, the Bills hosting the Pat-sterisks in Buffalo… can’t wait to watch that one… looks like i’ll get to watch the Browns/Ravens, Giants/Lions, and the Redskins/Cowboys games too… should be a fun weekend… and i simply cannot wait until Thursday… anyway, here’s the picks…

Bucs over Falcons (24-17)
Browns over Ravens (38-9)
Giants over Lions (34-31)
Eagles over Dolphins (17-10)
Vikings over Raiders (20-7)
Jags over Chargers (24-14)
Colts over Chiefs (34-13)
Cards over Bengals (27-21)
Packers over the Panthers (31-10)
Saints over Texans (28-14)
Steelers over the Jets (48-14)
Seahawks over the Bears (34-20)
Rams over 49ers (23-9)
Cowboys over the Skins (31-24)
Bills over the Pats (23-21)
Broncos over Titans (24-18)

and now i’m off to enjoy the rest of my day with the littles…

Eleven right, three wrong… and oddly enough i picked the score for the Chargers/Vikings game correctly, but assigned them to the wrong teams… i can hardly believe that it’s already week ten of the season… and even though i’m pretty sure that most of you who read this don’t care about football, i’m picking this week’s winners too…

Bills over Dolphins (38-10)
Chiefs over Broncos (27-17)
Packers over Vikings (31-28)
Falcons over Panthers (24-20)
Saints over Rams (41-9)
Redskins over Eagles (30-21)
Titans over Jaguars (24-13)
Browns over Steelers (33-31)
Bengals over Ravens (37-13)
Lions over Cards (41-20)
Bears over Raiders (24-12)
Giants over Cowboys (30-27)
Colts over Chargers (44-24)
Seahawks over 49ers (26-16)

and now for some of my football related gripes for the year…

i’m a bit sick of the Patsterisks… they’re one of “my” teams (Bills, Packers, Patriots, Redskins – in that order), but i really don’t like the way they’ve handled themselves this year… there was all this talk about the *great* character of Tom Brady with his playboy lifestyle and out-of-wedlock baby drama… but, somehow, i’ve managed to overlook that on some level, since he’s such a great quarterback… then the “spygate” thing (side gripe: why do we add “gate” onto everything now? it’s like “-oholic”)… again, i wasn’t too concerned about that because i don’t understand how much they can gain from such footage… but running up the scores every week… i don’t know… there’s just not much class to that… i mean, if you’re up 38-0 and it’s 4th down, do you not just kick the ball? if not at 38-0, surely at 45-0, right? no, not if you want to completely embarrass the other team… keep in mind, i don’t have a problem with winning by 50 points or so, but going for it on 4th down twice with a big lead is just obnoxious…

Another team i’m sick of is the Steelers… not so much that they’re quietly winning like crazy… but every game i see of theirs is littered with terrible refereeing and all the bad calls coincidentally favor the Steelers… they made it to and won a Superbowl on the back of bad calls and it looks like they’re still getting them regularly… i watched a frustrating game of theirs against the Bengals that included a fumble that wasn’t a fumble but stopped the Bengals from getting a needed touchdown and a catch that wasn’t a catch that kept the Steelers alive on a touchdown drive… both plays were not only called wrong live, but they were both reviewed and both stood despite clear evidence that, the ball hit the ground instead of being caught and that the runner’s knee was down before the ball came out… it’s so irritating to watch bad calls, but moreso when it’s consistently in favor of one particular team…

okay… enough for now… i have plenty to work on, a basement to clean out and a new issue of CCM to thumb through… happy Saturday to you all…

PS: peep the new content at theTRu listed up in the header… including a Sara Groves inTRuview, John Waller inTRuview and a Kevin Max Walk TRu…

if it’s 2 AM and you feel like blogging, resist… it’s just a booty-blog anyway…

i’m tired… i’ve been pulling daddy and mommy duties the last couple days while my wife is away and that generally means long, late nights and early mornings and an overdose of coffee… fortunately my bride returns tonight and all will be aright with the world… i’m glad it’s the weekend, but it feels like a Tuesday… probably because of the Halloween festivities breaking up the week…

Anyway… this is supposed to be the one with all my gripes, but i have to make dinner so we’ll see how far i get…first, the football…

Well, it appears that civilization survived another “heathen” holiday… silly me still up… i’ve got an entry full of gripes coming up, but the only one that matters right now is my gripe about the lack of time and it’s time for me to go to sleep… here’s why Halloween is AWESOME!
