alright, so, backsliding a little bit again… it’s been a pretty busy week and i’m still working on getting scheduling stuff worked out… early mornings really take it out of me… i’m so not a morning person and i don’t think that’s going to change no matter how hard i try… today, at least this time, i’m going to talk about football… the week in review, my picks for the end of the year, and my picks for week two… that’s a lot, so… off we go…

WONDERFUL WEEK WON, ER ONE…

now playing: Fire it Up – Thousand Foot Krutch

well i was just plain on FIRE last week when i picked the games… turns out that i just don’t know the west coast teams all that well… here’s the rundown… i had the colts, falcons, ravens, eagles, vikings, jets, saints, cowboys, giants, packers, patriots and the chargers, but missed the Broncos, 49ers and Seahawks… so i’m off to a great start at 12-3 (didn’t pick the steelers/titans game)…

big news from the week is injuries… big names: Polamalu, Urlacher, Gonzalez, Posluszny, and McNabb… definitely will change the landscape of this week’s games… a few, very few other notes… Buffalo Bills and Monday Night Football unfortunately just don’t mix… Jake Delhomme isn’t necessarily the bad guy… it’s not like he ever had any time in the pocket… Jay Cutler, on the other hand, is the bad guy… just bad throws… are the Raiders that good or are the Chargers just no good?… and finally, once again, the Bengals really aren’t as good as advertised…

NEXT ON THE DOCKET…
now playing: Moving On – Needtobreathe

this week’s games look to be pretty interesting as well… starting with the early games on Sunday… i know it’s easy to go with the Chiefs and Raiders as the spotlight because of the rivalry, but both teams have a lot of work to do… so, i’m really torn between two other games and i’ll go ahead and expand on both…

First, the Saints and the Eagles… certainly, Mcnabb’s injury cheapens this game, but still, you have and incredible offense, clashing with a powerful defense… Can Brees stand the heat? Can the Eagle’s offense keep up with the pace? McNabb, Kolb, or Garcia? all these questions and more will make this a great game… unfortunately, Philly fans will leave upset… Saints will win 38-23…

The other big game will take place in Jacksonville… The Jags will be hosting the Cards… both teams have some week one baggage and they’re both out to prove something… the Jags want to bounce back from a tough defeat to the Colts and the Cards need to remind the league of what got them to the Superbowl last year… conventional wisdom gives this one to the Jags for their physicality and the fact that they’re home… i’m tipping my hand to the Cards, however, because the Jags still have some pieces to fit back in place… Cards win 28-10…

And now for the rest…

Texans lose to the Titans, but fight harder than anyone expected…
Chiefs over Raiders, but it ain’t pretty…
Cheeseheads rejoice as the Pack crushes the Bengals
Favre gets another gimme as the Vikings smoke out the Lions
The Skins redeem themselves (somewhat) by picking apart the Rams
the J-E-T-S blow it… strong>Patriots school them…
and finally, the Falcons keep the Panthers’ fans depressed…

Late game highlight is clearly the BILLS… well, okay, we’ll talk about the Bears and the Steelers… expect a hard-hitting game despite the stars of both defenses missing out on the action… low score… maybe two more injuries… and the stinking Steelers emerge with a 12-10 victory
Bills beat the pathetic Bucs… (T.O. gets his first T.D – and second, i might add)…
49ers stun the Seahawks and begin to march the trail to where their wins aren’t surprises…
stopping the run cold, the Ravens edge out the Chargers
and the Browns win in the most boring game of the week, beating the Broncos

The Sunday night game will be fierce… another divisional rivalry… the Giants march into the Cowboys fancy new stadium and tear them down… Romo will get sacked 5 times, the scoreboard will get hit twice and Eli will connect with Steve Smith for THREE touchdowns… Giants win, 45-31

Finally, the Monday night game, which isn’t really all that much to talk about… the Dolphins really don’t have much to brag about and, they’ll be gracious hosts as the Colts march up and down the field on them a few times… Colts will be victorious with a score of 27-17

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN…
