[ Only If You Go With Me ]

Track One: Out Into the Light (Intro)... The CD starts out with Dave (DAT) reading a passage from Micah 7... verses 7-11 NIV to be exact... (yeah, i looked it up)... anyway.. this has a cool backdrop of music behind it... somewhat surreal... somewhat reminiscent of Seal's old song "Crazy"... cuts right into the first song Track Two: Where to Go... this is a cool upbeat tune... the piano is a subtle, yet very nice touch... the acoustic guitar controls the tune with a driving beat up front to keep things moving... DAT drops the first verse very nicel done... oh and i have to mention the electronica effects on the chorus... whenever i hear that (in any song, not just this one)... i think of that Cher song that was supposed to be her comeback song... "do you believe in love?" kinda funny... but it works well in a lot of songs... this one included... the fadeout either tells me that i've blown my headphones or that i scored a high score on an old atari game... the music fades out into something like an 8 bit explosion sound effect... Track Three: Come Away... sounds like tuning notes to start off... and maybe it's just me but i like it when you can here the fingers drag across the guitar strings... woah... that was hot... the track just did a wind-down effect and then started back up... sounded really cool... i think this was the first song i heard from UR... they chorus is pretty hype... "i have full confidence in what i don't see"... pretty big endeavor to attempt to describe or define faith... some nice drum work on this track... and the fadeout is pretty nice too... Track Four/Five: La Guitarra/Stick 'Em Up ... La G is a cool little Spanish guitar piece... that leads really nicely into Stick 'Em Up which has a definite Spanish flair to it... if you're not bobbin to this track... i just don't know... hmm.. the timing was pretty strange there... almost sounded like the CD skipped... DAT took a breath in the middle of the verse and then proceeded... anyway... this is a really tight track, but thematically it seems an odd fit with the rest of the CD... all about making it big, getting famous, getting rich... etc... i dunno... just doesn't fit with the whole ministry mindset... anyway... . oh wait, i get it... it's a spoof... don't mind me... just dance... Track Six/Seven: Cos' Jam/ You Are... bow bow bow bow bow.... yeah, the interlude and the song don't really have anything to do with each other... anyway... this is the first song without the rapping on the verses... kinda scary if you're worried about your vocals right?... nah no sweat... it's working nicely... and i should leave him alone... he's already insecure... heh... i wanna thank you... i wanna thank you... why does that remind me of something i can't quite grasp?... oh, maybe that old FuSchnickens song... yeah... they sound nothing alike... oh well... Track Eight: Nightmares and Dreams... you can't see, but i'm raising my eyebrows right now... a ballad... a sad one at that, well kinda sad... this is a song with a heap of meaning to it... and nicely done... "what is it that makes a man?" i like that bridge there... the vocals blend tidily (yeah that's a word)... anyway... this is a pretty cool little ditty... a gem as it were... the outro is really cool... nice little acoustic guitar solo... i'm not totally sold on the train sound effects throughout though... they work and all... i don't know... Track Nine: Rescue... another soft-spoken tune tucked in here... i like the percussion in the background... like tribal drums... the second verse has a somewhat sour note in it... i like the lead in to the chorus after that verse though "I offer it... all to you"... that's a cool vocal... i'm not a fan of the background talking though... it kinda takes away from the song i think... Track Ten: Angel... one two three four... whoop whoop whoop WOAH!... this is a bit more upbeat... oh i like that "down... down... down"... heh, i'm such a sucker for intentional breaks in the music... "learn to take yourself lightly"... "sometimes things are better left undone"... some cool thoughts there... i guess this is a song about breakups and girls past... it's nice to hear them speaking nicely about ex-es... the chorus is pretty cool... and on this last time through... they switch through the voices... kinda cool there... so tricky...

*** INTERMISSION (maybe it's cheating but i'm falling behind on this typing and i need to go stretch) ***

Track Eleven: The Flight... this is like the perfect song to come back to... it's something you would expect to hear during an intermission at a show... it's a splendid little acoustic guitar solo by Dave Gerhart who headed the production team... very nice guitar work... makes me wanna pull out a Phil Keaggy CD... Track Twelve: Override... the truth is... this song is one of the best on the CD... i really love the music... the piano is very smooth... (the solo at the end is really hype)... lyrically it's pretty solid too... and i like the sound of... "now that it's... raining down... she comes to me..." i don't know that i can say enough about this song... the vocals all blend really well... "everything worth dying for is already dead"... "the truth is... not to love with condition"... there's really a lot to chew on here... Track Thirteen: Heart, Soul, Mind... "every moment that i spend with you is heaven... through and through"... this is a nice, driving track to pick things back up... the hook is pretty nice... actually has like a Bad Boy feel to it... the verses are all rapped again... this time with a guest spot filled by HanSoul... very mellow verse from him... cool stuff... definitely one you gotta move to... Track Fourteen: Universals... i can't help but laugh... the shaka lacka lacka stuff cracks me up... this is another banger... The drum work is cool on this one... and there's the slight hint of an acoustic guitar that stays in the background for the most part... there's some nice turntables going on here... what! what! what!... keepin things movin... Track Fifteen: Perfect Day... i must admit... i really like this song too... and it's not just because... well... let's just talk about the song, shall we... i like how it starts out on the slow side and then as the forst verse progresses the tempo picks up and we move up to the steady drive of the whole thing... sun ain't shining.... nothing's right... thank you for staying... up all night... very cool song... about friendship and the importance of being there for each other... Track Sixteen/Seventeen: Heartbroken/Picture... nice keyboard part on the intro and the ever-haunting cello... though i can't for the life of me figure out why Juan didn't play that... i happen to know he's a mean violinist from way back... ha ha.. stops.... yes.... they did it again... i'm such a sucker... this is another song about breaking up and dealing with life when your plans fall through... i've found myself singing this chorus around the house or whatever... very catchy and very fun... albeit somewhat sad... Track Eighteen: Gravity starting out with a nice piano intro with strings in the back... and then some nice work on the tables... this is a cool song... "I don't care how deep you stare into these blue eyes"... pretty enjoyable listen... this is one of those songs that i never always hear... the turntables almost sound like on David Crowder Band's CD, Illuminate... pretty good stuff... oh... the keys are real nice on the end... it creates like an underwater echo effect... Track Nineteen/Twenty(Bonus): Go With Me (Outro)/ Rescue (Safari Mix) Nice outro here... DAT closes up the CD with the imagery of being in a race and called to finish... and agreeing to go only if God goes with him... the music backing it is pretty cool and ties in with the intro... then waiting... ah yes... here's the hidden track... about a minute and a half it kicks in... the "safari" remix of "Rescue"... is that a didgeridoo? maybe... sounds a little like a good intro to a new Crocodile Dundee movie... then later... like something out of the Lion King... hee hee... pretty cool stuff... it's fun to hear the same song set to different music... keeps things interesting... and that's that...
